Flax is an annual plant with small green leaves and delicate blue flowers. Its Latin name is Linum Usitatissimum, meaning "the most useful". The plant has many uses, indeed, but the focus here will be on the many nutrients found in flax seed and the benefits of eating this most wonderful grain. How much should I take? We recommend at least 25 grams per day.(Approximately 2 heaping tablespoons) When should I take Fortified Flax? This depends upon your schedule and what works best for you. Will I notice a difference in how I feel? Some people notice a difference in their energy levels very soon, while others just feel better in general. Will Flax help keep me regular? The large amount of fiber in the flax seed will keep you very regular, and the added essential fatty acids also benefit your body in many ways. Also adding fiber to your diet will also help bulk things up for you to relieve diarrhea. By taking only the flax oil, you miss out completely on the benefit of the fiber and the lignans contained in the fiber. Can I cook with flax seed? Baking with flax seed is fine. We do not recommend that you fry or microwave it, but it can be added to foods that have already been prepared. |
